On Saturday we got the pleasure of attending the Young Innovators Fair at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA. I was given 4 tickets to attend and brought my daughter who is 7 and my nephew who is 6. This fair is really geared to kids from K-12. It has lots of STEM learning for kids. The fair was held on Jan. 2 & 3rd and featured many amazing presenters, such as Pixar, BrickFest Live, Google and many more. You can read the list on their website here.
When we arrived, we headed right inside and began to explore. There was so much to see and do. My daughter and nephew got to make spin art, wrote letters to a sick child at C.H.O.P. and tried some delicious sunflower spread from SunButter. My daughter loved playing Minecraft on a computer and being able to ask different questions about it with the teachers at ESF Tech. I loved hearing about all their summer camp options. They got to play with Legos, touch sea animals and learn all about the different sea creatures with Adventure Aquarium. My daughter & nephew even won a real sharks tooth! We explored and learned many facts about space and dinosaurs. There was all this to do and more.
Besides all the great hands on learning the kids got at the fair, there were tons of things to see too! I was able to show my daughter an old Commodore 64 computer like one that I had as a child of their age. We even got to play an old game of Pac-Man on it! We saw a 3D printer and watched it creating a small figure. We saw a real Triceratops skull and other dinosaur fossils, saw space ships and even got to meet a StormTrooper and R2D2 from the 501st Legion.
We spent over 5 hours just exploring the entire Young Innovators Fair. There was just so much to see and do. It was a great hands on learning experience for kids and filled with alot of information and resources for adults to take away for their children. We loved being there and can’t wait to explore again in the future.
